This trip was for my "birthday week celebration" September 10th through 17, 2004. My Mom and Dad flew in from NJ to spend the week with us in Whitefish, MT. These are just a few of the pictures we took.
We stayed in this cute cabin at Ptarmigan Village. The resort is on 52 wooded acres. Oh - the "P" in the name is silent. |
The salt lick was just behind and to the right of the cabin. We saw deer there just about every day. |
When out and about walk quietly and don't scare the deer. |
We have no idea what this grand arch was for! There was a little cabin kind of building off to the side but no signs to tell us what it was and nobody around. |
I spotted this eagle flying along the river. He was good enough to land atop this tree and pose for pictures. |
My dad insisted on going down to see how cold the water was. |
Yep - it was VERY cold! |
I wanted to try crossing on the rocks - but everybody said NO WAY! |
My Mom gave up on me and Dad - there is just no controlling us. |
This is in the Two Medicines part of Glacier National Park. |
We all decided the mountain to the far right looks like the face of a person laying down.
Running Eagle Falls. |
Me, my Dad and my Mom. |
Was cool and very overcast - rained on and off. The higher elevations are already getting snow! |
This was taken at the entrance to the Flathead Indian Reservation.
This monument stands on The Continental Divide. |
This is at "Goat Lick". |
The Mountain Goats carefully climb down this steep hillside. I don't think this kid was having much fun! |
Then across to the shiny black rock face where they lick the mineral deposits. |
Pretty cool collection of antlers.
There are approximately 370 Bison on the range. This is one of the herds. |
We watched them for quite a while. It was pretty cool as they came closer to the car. |
We could hear them snort as they grazed along. |
The Antelope were right by the road. |
The big male surveys his domain. |
There were over a dozen Antelope in this herd. |
Here we are at the main entrance to Glacier National Park. |
Mom & Dad read about Lake McDonald.

Mom & Dad along The Trail of the Cedars. |
Kinda cool these young trees growing out of a fallen tree. |
EVERYWHERE we saw signs warning about bears. Some of the trails & camp grounds were closed because of bears in the ares. |

Wild Goose Island in the middle of St. Mary Lake.

At the airport on the way home I finally saw a bear.
For all the signs this is the only one we saw! |
